From July 1st 2004 through the end of December 2004, Piggy Bank World donated proceeds from its Great Penny Drive to International Child Art Foundation (ICAF), a non-profit organization that uses art education to promote peace among children around the world.
Combining innovative arts education programming with a strong belief in the power of children to create peace, ICAF is developing a worldwide community of peace activists, one child at a time. A common thread in the violence in our local communities and around the world is fear, hatred and ignorance. By bringing together children from different cultures, races, religions and socio-economic backgrounds ICAF combats stereotypes and provides children with first-hand knowledge to choose their own responses to the people they meet. ICAF empowers children, parents and teachers through an international arts competition for children ages 8-12, held across the US and in more than 100 countries. The finalists are invited to ICAF's international festival, held on the National Mall in Washington, DC, for a week of hands-on art and craft activities, musical performances, leadership training and interactive events designed to help the participants understand each other. ICAF promotes children's art through its magazine, ChildArt, and implements Peace Through Art programs in conflict zones.
Since 2002, our customers have been making a big impact with small change.
